Dear Premier Dosanjh,

We thank the Government for honouring our work and announcing the successful completion of the Cassiar-Iskut-Stikine LRMP. This is an immense undertaking of a diverse and dedicated group of people.

It has been a privilege to work with the The Tahltan Government, BC Government, local residents, guide outfitters, the mining industry, tourism, fishers. We are deeply grateful for the LRMP process which provides the opportunity for people to work together. We gained a better understanding of this great Stikine wilderness and were able to be a part of her future unfolding. In our three years of meeting we learned about her visible resources and its hidden resources which include gold and copper under the earth, as well as the air and water, grizzley bear, salmon and caribou, diverse forests, and alpine tundra.

The table came to 100% consensus. That is profound in the midst of the diversity of interests at the table. The LRMP consensus package is a guide for future development that respects all living things, and takes deeply into consideration the people of this area.

We believe that wild spaces are essential for our very existance. It is for the love of all humanity that this Great River and her surrounding area remain essentially intact.

It was a pleasure to meet you at the press conference.

For the River,

Stan Tomandl and Ann Jacob
Co-chair, Friends of the Stikine
